Failing retaining walls can be converted into ADUs or used as retaining walls.

Updated: Oct 3

The process commenced with a phone call and the initial inspection by Sinai Construction, who aimed to demolish and reconstruct the failing retaining wall. As depicted in the image above, multiple walls are currently holding back the hillside from descending onto the home. However, due to the pressure, the existing walls have deteriorated, a common occurrence when they lack durability. This situation can be hazardous and expensive. Fortunately, the client, who was renovating, opted to install a new retaining wall to safeguard the upgrades securely.

The clients entrusted their friend, a contractor, to construct an addition to their home. However, he lacked expertise in retaining walls, which is where we stepped in. We collaborated, and here is the progress we have made so far. The failing walls were methodically dismantled after the existing laundry room was taken down. Subsequently, heavy machinery was employed to clear the remaining soil for the footings of the new foundation. An ADU will be constructed above it.

Sinai Construction ensured that the footings were constructed and firmly anchored to facilitate the pouring of concrete for structural security. As illustrated in the images below, the rebar was tied, and forms were placed around it to contain the concrete until it was set. After curing, the forms were removed, and the wall was prepared for the next crew to continue their work. Sinai Construction is committed to collaborating with clients and their contractors to deliver top-notch services. We have completed our part, and the remaining tasks will be carried out by their contractor. Contact Sinai Construction today for your ADU or retaining wall project.
